Newsletter for March
Welcome to the monthly newsletter. Here’s what’s happening this month:
Muffin Stuffin is back! Share how life is going over a drink and a slice. The cheesecake is now made in house and is fresh and yummy (not glute, dairy, or sugar free)
Coffee and Chill is for autistic adults to socialise, sit and be comfortable in group having a cuppa with others. Please remember that questions are great, but others have a right to not answer.
Art group is paint, crayon, charcoal, texta, paper quills on canvas. The art will be shown at the library in the month of April. The theme is (loosely) feeling and emotions in colour. I know that it’s a change for art and that normally everyone gets to take things home, but this is a chance to show off how amazing artists are. If you have an idea let us know before Friday 14/3/24 and we will try and make it happen.
Support meeting is an evening meeting for parents and carers. Come and share how the first part of the end has gone.

NEWS:
DSS Community consultation
This is still happening, and it’s really important to give feedback. Remember all the added restrictions that happened on the 18th March 2024? They want to make more. When the consultation is talking about “flexible funding” they are not talking about being able to use the funds as you want to get physical things that support your child. They are talking about changing it so that an agency allocates the carer for your child, chooses what tasks that carer will do and basically remove your control of who and what cares for our loved ones.

Art Group
Both of this month’s Art groups are about painting. Getting ready to show our art to Upper Hutt, in the library. Previously we used this to as fundraising, but this year we are not doing that the art will be given to the artist’s family in May.
There will be:
• Paint (including paint pens)
• Canvases in different sizes
• Pens
• Crayons
• Paper
• Quills
• Glue, glitter (the library will love us)
• Brushes, sponges, hand air pumps,
Fundraising
We have cards to sell. They are blank inside get in touch and purchase 1/5/10 Prices are:
$2.75 for one card $12.00 for a pack of 5 $22.00 for a pack of 10
We are a registered charity and donations are tax deductible, so please contact us on how to support Upper Hutt Autism group. If you know of any fundraising events looking for a worthwhile group please let them know about us.

We are on the lookout for our own space. A place that is available all the time (not for events but the day to day stuff) if you know someone with space then let us know.
